Peacock Reception

Grounds for Sculpture is home to a large ostentation of peacocks. Naturally, the theme inspiration for the reception decor walked to me (since peacocks aren’t much known for their flying abilities).

The wedding cake was created by Pierre’s Bakery. I provided color direction using paint cards from Home Depot. I then embellished two white peacocks with matching sequins to complete the look.

Our decorator offered to supply the wedding gift box, but I wasn’t entirely charmed by it. So set out to create my own. I used paper from Paper Source, fabric and embellished borders from Kinari Bazaar in Chandni Chowk. (Mission #5) I wanted to have box topper, kind of like a cake topper. So I took one of my Mom’s bonsai trees and spray-painted it gold and glue-gunned silver rhinestones on the flowers. For good measure, I perched two peacocks on top of the tree.

Favors were homemade jams by Mrs. Miller with labels from Etsy wrapped in pale green, blue and purple tissue paper covered with green and gold mesh fabric from Chandni Chowk. (Mission #6)

Seating place cards were on wood tags clipped by cloth pins on yarn stringed onto bulletin boards. The background was blue and green peacock paper by Paper Source.

Stage decor and centerpieces were by Rangoli Weddings. The LED lighting on the stage and around the banquet hall was in peacock theme colors of green, purple and blue provided by DJ Raj.

To conclude the peacock theme, I did a bit of artwork by drawing and coloring a pair of peacocks. I used this motif in the stationary for the schedule of events, the signature cocktail recipe card and table numbers.
