A trip to Manchester, VT

Yesterday we were hit with East Coast’s second nor’easter in a week. In honor of the beauty the snow brings along with disastrous effects, I am reminiscing about our winter wonderland trips to Vermont in recent years.

For the past three years, we have ventured to Vermont’s ski resorts such as: Bromley in Peru, Stratton in Londonderry, Mt. Snow in Dover, and Killington. We have explored lovely Victorian towns along with the wonderful powdery snow the alpine slopes are so famous for. In 2017, we spent President’s Day weekend in Manchester, VT – a lovely town with lots of great restaurants, authentic New England charm drenched in rich history.

Sutton’s Place – This little inn was our residence during our time in Manchester, VT. Located close to the downtown area – it was a reasonably priced option.

The Equinox Resort – On the evening of our arrival, we popped into this famed and fancy establishment for a drink at the Falcon Bar.

Depot Cafe – This is an antiques shop for those with eclectic tastes along with being a wonderful restaurant serving the best brick-oven pizza in town.

Kimpton Taconic Hotel – I marveled at the way the hotel chain has adapted the interiors and finishes with a Vermont flavor. The warm and welcoming ambiance suggests that the design was executed flawlessly.

The Copper Grouse – The hotel’s restaurant and bar is extremely cozy with an indoor fireplace and an outdoor firepit, as no Vermont public space is complete without a venue for wood burning. They serve delicious cocktails, a wide selection of craft beers and of course, deletable food – we had the best soups of our lives here.

Up for Breakfast – This is an extremely popular spot for breakfast, so arrive early. We failed to follow that advise and had to hangrily wait for hours, only to be served with disappointing breakfast.

Hildene – The Lincoln Family Home

Lumber Jack’s Coffee – Hoosick, NY

West Mountain Inn – This super charming establishment in Arlington, VT was our home during 2015’s two visits to Vermont during the winter time.

The Arlington Inn – We had dinner at the dining room of this Arlington, VT inn. The interiors were draped with the loveliest wallpapers.
